Sunday 22nd February saw another exciting day of football action for the Saints in the Community Autism FC squad.
With this round of fixtures taking place in Perth, there was no long journey for the squad as they headed to North Inch Community Campus for the final matchday. With the league title on the line, it promised to be an exciting and competitive day of football. Kitted out in their Sidey-sponsored strips, a total of 15 players took part, with 8 representing the Blue team and 7 lining up for the Whites. Both squads were competing in the North Region Championship, determined to finish the campaign strongly.
The Saints Blues got off to a perfect start with a victory over the Saints Whites (much to the delight of Coach Ross), setting the tone for the day. A tough test against Monifieth followed, where they narrowly lost out despite a spirited performance. The Blues would bounce back with a strong win over Tayside rivals, Dundee United. Confidence continued to grow with another victory against the Pars, before rounding off their fixtures with a well-earned draw against Dollar. Their consistency and determination throughout the day secured enough points to see them crowned North Region champions, lifting the championship shield at the conclusion of play.
The Whites also produced an outstanding set of performances across their fixtures. After opening with a narrow defeat, the squad regrouped and went on an impressive winning run. Victories over Dundee United, Monifieth, the Pars, and Dollar showcased their resilience as a team. Their efforts saw them finish the day in second place overall, a fantastic achievement and a testament to their hard work throughout.
Off the pitch, both squads represented the Trust with pride, showing excellent sportsmanship and respect throughout. Congratulations to both teams, with the players now returning to their weekly training sessions as they look ahead to future events!
