STRONGER TOGETHER ON WORLD MENTAL HEALTH DAY
With more than 1 in 3 people affected by mental health problems each year, World Mental Health Day reminds us of the importance of looking after our mental wellbeing and of the power of conversation, community, and support
It’s a time to raise awareness, to check in with those around us, and to reinforce the vital message: it’s okay to ask for help.
At Saints in the Community, we believe that mental health matters every day of the year. Through our programmes, we aim to create opportunities that bring people together, reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation, and promote positive mental wellbeing across Perth & Kinross.
The benefits of regular exercise and social interaction for mental health are well established, and a key aim of our community programmes are to reduce social isolation and feelings of loneliness, and to improve mental wellbeing locally.
Our wellbeing initiatives include:
- Mental Health & Wellbeing Football
- Football Fans in Training
- Walk & Talk
- Time Out Thursdays
- Walking Football
- Football Memories
- Goals For Growth (child)
Whether you’re looking to improve your physical health, meet new people, or simply take some time for yourself, these sessions offer a supportive and inclusive environment for all. If you, or someone you know, could benefit from any of our programmes, please don’t hesitate to get in touch by emailing: projects@saintsinthecommunity.co.uk
Mental health remains a key focus of our work. With prevention and early intervention at the heart of our strategy, we continue to explore how sport can act as a powerful vehicle for improving wellbeing across the county.
We’re proud to have the backing of our local partners who make this work possible:
- Sidey – sponsors of our Mental Health & Wellbeing Football team
- Aviva – supporters of our Health Walks and Walking Football programmes
