AUTISM FC START STRONG
Sunday 21st September marked the beginning of another exciting season for the Saints in the Community Autism FC squad.
The team travelled to the Dundee International Sports Centre for the opening round of the 2025/26 league campaign, ready to build on the success of last season, where our Championship side were crowned winners of the Finals Day back in May!
Due to player availability, the Saints in the Community squad returned to one team for the day, but spirits were high as the squad, kitted out once again in their Sidey sponsored strips, prepared to face a strong line-up of opponents. With fixtures against Dunfermline, Monifieth, Milton, Dundee United, and Dollar Glen ahead, the team were determined to start the season on the front foot.
The day would begin in the perfect fashion, with the Saints in the Community squad opening their campaign with a 2-0 victory over Dunfermline, showing composure and determination in front of goal. A tight contest against Monifieth followed, ending in a 1-1 draw after a determined showing from both sides. From there, Saints found their rhythm, producing a dominant 11-1 victory over Milton before carrying that momentum into their next fixture, a 6-0 victory over Tayside rivals, Dundee United. The squad would finish the day on a high, coming out on top in an exciting 6-3 match with league newcomers, Dollar Glen, to round off an excellent opening set of fixtures.
The day proved to be a special one for the squad, once again going unbeaten throughout the day with every player finding the net across the fixtures, a fantastic reflection of the team’s togetherness.
Off the pitch, the players once again represented the Trust superbly, showing excellent sportsmanship and teamwork throughout the event. It was a brilliant start to the season, and the squad now look forward to continuing their weekly training sessions as they prepare for the next round of fixtures.
